By the time the Bond series reached the early 80s, they were so full of lame puns that they were no longer funny. Roger Moore made James Bond seem more like Benny Hill than a double-O. He was either bedding every thing with legs or making jokes that simply were not funny. Also the gadgetry reached an over-the-topness that should be reserved for Wile E. Coyote. The oversexed Bond toned down a bit with Dalton and Brosnan and the women started to grow brains (from Brosnan forward, Denise Richards notwithstanding), but the gadgets kept getting worse. Casino Royale seemed to follow more the pattern set in the Jason Bourne movies, that is: Believable.

Ford makes very different cars (e.g. the Mondeo) and has a very different reputation in Britain. Check out the cars on their UK site. The Focus is a well respected car there...
